The story of Saffron
The crocus blooms for only three weeks each autumn, and each bloom lasts a single day. Within that day, every flower is picked by hand before sunrise, while the petals are still closed — the only window in which the delicate red stigmas can be separated without damage.
It takes roughly 150 flowers to produce a single gram of saffron. There is no mechanized way to shorten this. What you’re holding is the result of patience, not process..
Quantity
Saffron is sold by the gram for a reason — a little goes a long way, and its potency fades the moment it’s exposed to light and air. We package in small batches to keep every thread as close to harvest-fresh as possible.

Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranates
with all choicest fruits,
henna with nard,
nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon,
with all trees of frankincense,
myrrh and aloes,
with all choice spices.
